Vince HBO 29 a 20 contro Netflix (comprendendo anche i Creative Emmy Awards), in una serata che ha visto per la prima volta una serie tv in onda su un servizio di streaming vincere il premio come miglior serie drammatica, The Handmaid’s Tale (in Italia su TimVision) che ha trionfato anche grazie alla miglior attrice Elisabeth Moss e al premio per una donna regista. Le limited series sono il regno della HBO con Big Little Lies e The Night Of che controllano la categoria compresi i migliori attori. Doppio premio anche per Donald Glover con la sua Atlanta (regia e miglior attore in una comedy) in una categoria ancora dominata da Veep e da Julia Louis Dreyfus.
