Gli Oscar 2024 hanno visto il prevedibile trionfo di Oppenheimer che si porta a casa 7 Oscar tra cui Miglior Film, regia, protagonista e non protagonista. Si piazza bene Povere Creature! con il premio a Emma Stone rimasta incredula perché nelle ultime settimane sembrava dovesse vincere Lily Gladstone per Killers of the Flower Moon. Scontata la sconfitta di Garrone con Io, Capitano con l’Oscar che è andato a La Zona d’Interesse.
Il monologo di Jimmy Kimmel come da tradizione è stato dedicato all’annata cinematografica e ai premiati con vari riferimenti all’attualità (“Emma Stone interpreta una donna con il cervello di una bambina come la deputata che ha fatto il discorso di risposta allo Stato dell’Unione”). Non sono mancati i riferimenti allo sciopero (“adesso gli attori devono solo temere che altri più giovani li sostituiscano e non l’AI”) e nel corso della serata anche qualche battuta su Trump “grazie per guardare lo show non è oltre l’ora libera in prigione?” dopo aver letto un suo commento sullo show.
Divertente gag con John Cena per ricordare l’incursione nuda avvenuta sul palco nel 1974 durante la cerimonia degli Oscar. Cena è arrivato con soltanto la busta a coprire le parti intime per annunciare il premio per il miglior costume. Il “nemico” sul web è stato identificato in Robert Downey Jr. colpevole di non aver salutato Ke Huy Quan che insieme ad altri vincitori del passato ha introdotto il premio come non protagonista.
